Off The Radar Whatcha doin’ layin ‘ in the grass I knew you once, when you had class How’d you get here down and out Whatcha gonna do, where ya goin’ now Sun is rising on the rolling waves Neighbors huddled in their outdoor caves Behind the scenes it’s a different world No caviar, no diamonds or pearls Off the radar and layin’ low Packed some bags but nowhere to go Used to be just an average guy Sittin’ here watching life go by You fought a war but a war fights you Livin’ each day with nothin’ to do If ya went back could ya change it all The war goes on behind your wall You’re everywhere, like the stars at night You’re hot and cold, can’t see the light The sign you hold begs for sympathy While your mind gives up on your dignity Off the radar and layin’ low Packed some bags but nowhere to go Used to be just an average guy Sittin’ here watching life go by You fought a war but a war fights you Livin’ each day with nothin’ to do Now you know you can’t change at all The war goes on behind your wall (repeat chorus) Off the radar © 2010 Berglund / Bonafede

You Ain’t Found Nothin’ (If You Don’t Have Love) Time goes on and on and on You don’t know what you had til it’s gone, gone You can have riches but they won’t mean a thing Without a queen how can you be king You keep on lookin’ for that pot of gold You keep on lookin’ for the key But all you’ll find is that you’ve just grown old Misery loves company You ain’t found nothin’ If you don’t have love You ain’t found nothin’ If you don’t have love You can climb mountains or sail the seven seas You can have your name go down in history You can be remembered for the things you have done But a lonely heart is like a setting sun You keep on lookin’ for that pot of gold You keep on lookin’ for the key But all you’ll find is that you’ve just grown old Misery loves company You ain’t found nothin’ If you don’t have love You ain’t found nothin’ If you don’t have love © 2004 Berglund/Bonafede

Let Me Take You Back Another day you’re cold And this shit is getting old Oh how I needed you After all that we’ve been through Yet you walk away again And I thought you were my friend Tell me where does it end Another year has passed My, the time goes by so fast And I think I might give in Guess I’ll take it on the chin Sometimes you just can’t win You just can’t win So let me take you back To a time when we were young When you and I were one Let me take you back Seems like nothing ever lasts And here we are at last So let me take you back © 2011 Berglund / Bonafede

West Of Eighth There’s a place, keep your faith West of 8th Another day, still we pray West of 8th Through struggle and strife Hang on for your life West of 8th, trouble’s callin’ West of 8th, the man has fallen West of 8th……….Your home Darkness nears, pools of tears West of 8th Screams and shouts, shots ring out West of 8th On a hot summer night Where gangs take flight West of 8th, trouble’s callin’ West of 8th, the man has fallen West of 8th……….Your home Nothing lasts, nothing changes West of 8th Fear and death is not a stranger West of 8th You stay but you know A child can’t grow West of 8th, trouble’s callin’ West of 8th, the man has fallen West of 8th……….Your home Don’t look for help Nobody gonna listen If you can’t take the heat Get out of the kitchen © 2004 Berglund / Bonafede

Beg, Borrow, & Steal Easy come and easy go Man when your luck runs out Then you will know How it’s gonna feel Feel so real Fighting to survive For me it’s no big deal In comes the coldness of the night What is wrong and what is right Look away, can’t stand the sight A ghostly demon in the night Through your eyes I may not be What it is you want to see Even though you don’t agree We’re the same, you and me I have to beg, borrow and steal And you don’t know how that makes me feel I have to beg, borrow and steal Alone without a home, lookin’ for my next meal Another dawn, another day Another sky turns to gray Where can I go, where can I stay A hopeless soul is turned away Around the world I hear the cry From people just like you and I Young and old left to die It leaves me with one question, why? Listen to it good Tell me what you hear The writing’s on the wall The message all too clear I have to beg, borrow and steal And you don’t know how that makes me feel I have to beg, borrow and steal And you don’t know how that makes me feel I have to beg, borrow and steal Alone without a home, lookin’ for my next meal I have to beg, borrow and steal And you don’t know how that makes me feel I have to beg, borrow and steal Alone without a home, lookin’ for my next meal © 2004 Berglund/Bonafede

Another Millenium Time has past another year People livin’ in doubt and fear Some say the end is near for us 2000 we took note Remember what Nostradamus wrote Tell me now Can you deal with this Do you believe what the prophet sees War and famine and disease Maybe the answer lies within the stars at night Another millennium…………..that’s all 39 at heaven’s gate 39 that couldn’t wait 39 who met their fate too soon……………too soon Hop aboard catch the train It won’t come by this way again Tell me now what do we do my friend I believe it’s just another day No matter what the prophets say And they say You better get on your knees tonight and pray Another millennium……………that’s all I believe it’s just another day No matter what the prophets say And they say You better get on your knees tonight and pray Another millennium……………that’s all That’s all……………………………….. © 1999 Dave Berglund © 2012 Berglund / Bonafede

about

I got the idea for the song "Off The Radar" when I was walking along the beach and saw a bunch of homeless guys sleeping and hanging out on a grassy area near the beach. I just thought 'these guys live day to day, nobody knows anything about them, they are basically off the radar'. I wrote the song based on that and then we gathered some of our previously recorded (but not released songs) that had sort of an "off the radar or off the grid" kinda theme, some more than others.
I want to be clear that this album and some of it's songs are not meant to exploit the plight of the homeless, and hopefully someday be used in some way to help those truly in need. My vision is to have this album performed in it's entirety live as a benefit concert to raise awrenes of the magnitude of our homeless population. - Frank
