Flash In The Pan

from The Song Is Never Over by Berglund & Bonafede

/

about

Dave: Frank and I sometimes try and guess some one hit wonders and who sang them. I love that kind of trivia. I would hate to be a one hit wonder, but right now I’ll take it!
Frank: I was listening to one of the cable TV music channels and heard a lot of 60’s and 70’s stuff by one hit wonders. This one is about a guy who has early success but struggles for the rest of his life to write another hit. I had the tune for the chorus and Dave came up with the tune for the verse.

lyrics

Flash In The Pan

Strummin’ a tune, gonna get it down soon
He knows it’s gonna be a hit
It’ll blow ‘em away, when they hear him play
They couldn’t get enough of it
Just like the one, that was second to none
And put him at the top of the charts
It was easy to do, words and music rang true
Comin’ from the depths of his heart

But he was just another flash in the pan
Singin’ songs the best that he can
Always was a hard workin’ man
But he was just another flash in the pan

He played it in clubs and he played it in pubs
It was only just a matter of time
The demo was great and he just couldn’t wait
Too many years have passed him by
His manager said you’re gonna knock ‘em all dead
Playin’ gigs around the world
Your name up in lights, shinin’ so bright
Glittering like diamonds and pearls

But he was just another flash in the pan
Singin’ songs the best that he can
Always was a hard workin’ man
But he was just another flash in the pan
