Dave: There was this guy named “Vince” in his 80’s, and he used to sprint up and down the sidewalk where I lived every night. Yup, that’s right, he would run up and down the sidewalk for about a half of an hour. Well one night we got to talking to find out that we both loved music. He used to love to write words but never played an instrument to accompany him. Vince would recite some of his lyrics and they were very good, some comical but well thought out. Anyway, one night when we were talking he said, “ we’re alike, you and I. That was it, that stuck in my head and I wrote the song You And I within an hour’s time. It talks about two people that share a dream, a dream to make it and take it to the high and maybe someday they’ll get there. Vince did come over to my apartment one night because I told him that I wrote a song called, You And I. I played it on guitar and sang it for him. He said, “That’s it!” He said it was beautiful and had the “hook” of being a great song. Vince said You And I had the potential of being a hit. Vince never got to hear the final recording with the instrumentals. Vince passed away before it was completed by Frank and I, but I know Vince is listening and he is here with us. Every time I play or hear it I will always think of him. He is the reason for it. God bless you, Vince.
Frank: Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of meeting Vince. He lives in my mind through Dave’s stories of him. I’m glad I had the opportunity to record this with Dave.
lyrics
You And I
Someday we’ll get there
We just have to try
Someday we’ll find the way to make it you and I
And we’ll get there, yes we’ll get there
You and I
You and I
Sometime in our lifetime
You meet that special friend
Find that you both share a dream
And a message you wanna send
And we’ll get there, yes we’ll get there
You and I
You and I
You and I we can make it to the top
And when we reach that high we ain’t never gonna stop
You write the lyrics, I’ll write the song
And together we’ll break this barrier
And we’ll go on and on and on
You and I
You and I we can make it to the top
And when we reach that high we ain’t never gonna stop
You write the lyrics, I’ll writ the song
And together we’ll break this barrier
And we’ll go on and on and on
You and I
Yes we’ll make it, we’re gonna take it to the high
You and I
You and I……………
