Crazy Man

about

Dave: Frank wrote these lyrics and I knew it had to be something spooky musically. I love the music arrangement and the words, probably not something you could consider a hit but definitely on an album.
Frank: When I was just a little kid growing up in Brooklyn there was this guy who used to come around our block every so often and throw stones at us kids. He was really weird. He wore this old blue sport coat and his pockets were loaded with rocks. We were all afraid of him because he’d fire these stones at your head or legs and would connect. We nicknamed him Rocky. Nobody knew anything about him and we never knew where he lived. Also, some of the houses had gates in front of the porches and he would close every gate on the block. So, to antagonize him, when we saw him coming we’d open all the gates. It’s crazy, man!!!!

lyrics

Crazy Man

Crazy man
Comin’ ‘round the corner with your stones
Closin’ the gates, filled with hate
Tryin’ to break some bones

You better run and you better hide
‘Cause they’re gonna come flyin’
When they hit you in the head
You’re gonna run to momma cryin’

Rocky, where do you come from
And Rocky, where do you go
Disappearing down the street
Where do you call home
What goes on in your crazy head
And Rocky, can you feel
Are you alive or are you dead
Rocky, life is real

Crazy man
Comin’ ‘round the corner with your stones
Hand in your pocket, wish you would stop it
Just leave us all alone

Down the street shufflin’ your feet
Scarin’ kids to get your kicks
Vanishing like a ghost in the night
To the place where crazy lives

Rocky, where do you come from
And Rocky, where do you go
Disappearing down the street
Where do you call home
What goes on in your crazy head
And Rocky, can you feel
Are you alive or are you dead
Rocky, life is real
